William Beckwith McInnes 'Kangaroo Ground' oil painting on board
William Beckwith McInnes 1889-1939
Exquisite oil painting on board in a period timber frame.
Signed "McInnes" lower right. The title of the painting is inscribed verso.
Note: The title of the painting reads 'Kangaroo Ground' a suburb in Melbourne's north east. It is inscribed in pencil verso and has been partially over written with the word 'Kangaroos' presumably by another hand.
Image 28 x 33.5 cm / frame 40.5 x 46 cm.
The painting has been professionally cleaned and has a small area of fine craquelure in the sky upper centre but is otherwise in very good condition for an oil of this age. The frame is marked and worn.
William Beckwith McInnes is represented in the collections of all major Australian public art galleries including the National Gallery of Victoria, the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Queensland Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Art Gallery of Western Australia as well as Australian regional art galleries at Castlemaine, Ballarat, Bendigo and Mildura.
